Felicia Norton is a contemporary dancer of international recognition who has toured her solo dance repertory throughout the US, Canada, Central America, Europe and Asia with works created for her by several dance luminaries including Tamar Rogoff, Mark Dendy, Alison Chase, Zvi Gotheiner, Molissa Fenley, Lynne Taylor Corbett among others. She has received such accolades as:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A lifetime resident of New York City, Felicia trained at the Metropolitan Opera Ballet School, American Ballet Theatre, Tanz-Forum in Cologne, Germany and the London School for Contemporary Dance.\u00a0 \u00a0The Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors Festival in NYC commissioned four new solo dance works for Felicia Norton and the renowned violinist\/ composer Leroy Jenkins. They included “Strung<\/em>“, a new work created for her by Mark Dendy, \u2018Under the Uplands<\/em>\u2019 created for her by Tamar Rogoff, \u2018Icho; Solitary Butterfly\u2019<\/em>, created for her by Molissa Fenley.\u00a0 Felicia Norton and Leroy Jenkins performed their own collaboration, \u2018Saraswati\u2019 for a fourth commission.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her active teaching career has involved positions at Omega Institute, the University of Chicago, Marin College, California, and at the Queens Museum, in NYC.\u00a0 While at the Queens Museum Collaborative Arts Initiative, she received a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts to conduct dance workshops with N.Y.C. public school students.\u00a0 She served as an adjunct professor of dance at Lehman College, CUNY, NYC, and teaches dance at The Third Street Music School and at The United Nations International School in NYC. Felicia has been touring the solo dance theatre work ‘NOOR’<\/em>, co-choreographed with Sasha Spielvogel\/Labyrinth Dance Theater,\u00a0 to critical acclaim in London, UK, France, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Scotland, UK, Chautauqua Institute, NY, St Mark’s Church, NYC, venues throughout the US, and most recently at Sarah Lawrence College, Westchester, NY.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
